Posten’s task is to both provide good, uniform postal services throughout Norway in line with the licence requirements, while simultaneously running on business terms and being competitive in a market that is characterised by continuously increasing competition.

Norway Post has created a simplified clearance solution for parcels for private individuals. Goods with a value below NOK 350 (including freight and insurance) and for personal gifts up to NOK 1000 are duty free. The exception is alcohol and tobacco. Goods with value of NOK 350 and above (including freight and insurance) is customs and taxable.

The reception is open on weekdays between 6.30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The reception is normally open to members of the public wishing to redeem notes and coins that are no longer valid. Business hours are Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Please note: Premises for exchanging expired banknotes are temporarily closed. Here's how to exchange your old notes and coins.

Offices are closed on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and the Wednesday before Maundy Thursday.
